TITLE: Cypress Trees for the Nativity

Since 1999, American artist Susan Lordi has worked in partnership with DEMDACO to produce, market and distribute Willow Tree, her line of carved figurative sculpture. From her studio in Kansas City, Lordi hand carves the original of each figure, and these pieces are then cast from Lordi's original carvings and painted by hand.

The two-piece set of Cypress Trees is designed to enhance the Willow Tree Nativity. The elegant architecture of these majestic yet simple trees creates a visually uplifting form in the nativity collection. Each tree is uniquely carved with symbols of nature, and pinpoints of gold leaf reflect light and create interest.

Rooted in the earth, reaching toward the sky, the Cypress Trees are a fitting addition to the Willow Tree Nativity. These cream-colored, slender, vertical sculptures, one taller and one shorter, are elevated on metal rods with a stable base, sized to complement the Willow Tree Nativity collection.

Enclosed inside each fitted packaging box is a gift-giving card with the piece title and the sentiment "Rooted in the earth, reaching toward the sky" written on it. Each piece is intended to be open to interpretation from the viewer, as Lordi explains, "Willow Tree isn't so much about the tangible piece. It represents an emotion or it marks a memory."

Ready to display on a shelf, table or mantel, the Cypress Trees are easy to care for - simply dust with a soft brush or cloth, and avoid water or cleaning solvents.
